Sleep Pods and Suites in Miami Airport Availability (2024)

Similar to JFK most rest benches at Miami Airport have armchairs making it difficult to find a good sleeping spot. And it’s getting worse. Airport delays are up 20% from Jan to May 2022 and if you are traveling through Miami Airport, you could use the latest airport sleep innovation technologies such as sleep pods by GoSleep Pods or sleep suites by Minute Suites.

While the Admirals Club at D30 Lounge offers comfy lounge chairs, unfortunately, the layover experience at Miami Airport can be quite unpleasant due to its uncomfortable sleeping arrangements.

In this article, I have explained in detail the sleep options you have at Miami Airport with a special focus on innovative sleep technologies such as sleep pods and sleep suites.

Can you sleep at Miami Airport?

Although it is technically possible to sleep at Miami Airport, the lack of designated rest zones makes finding a comfortable spot quite challenging. While there are numerous seating areas available, they are mostly equipped with armrests, making it difficult to lie flat and get a good night’s sleep. I recommend Terminal D as it has carpeted corners and quiet spots. There are a few padded benches that are more comfortable above Gate D15 near the Admirals Club Lounge.

Although Miami International Airport does not have designated sleeping areas, there are certainly comfortable spots available for a restful layover overnight. I recommend heading to the quieter gates in Concourses D and E, as these areas tend to have fewer crowds and more seating options.

Are there sleeping pods at Miami Airport?

Despite being one of the busiest airports in the world, Miami Airport has lagged behind in adopting the latest airport sleep technologies such as sleeping pods. As of this update in late 2023, Miami Airport does not have any sleep pods – either GoSleep or Escape Pods that you can utilize to take some quick naps between your flights.

I wasn’t able to find information as to whether there are plans to introduce sleeping pods in Miami Airport.

Are there Minute Suites in Miami Airport?

Minute Suites’ sleep technology has gained popularity among various airports, including Salt Lake City, JFK, Atlanta, Newark, and Charlotte. Regrettably, Miami Airport has yet to collaborate with Minute Suites to introduce pay-per-use sleep suites. These suites offer a chair-to-bed conversion feature, along with sleep-enhancing technologies like white noise, soothing orange light, and a timer-based wake-up system ideal for airport sleep.

On Miami Airport’s services and amenities page, Minute Suites are not listed as part of the amenities that fliers can expect to be available soon. I’ll be regularly checking and will keep you updated when this changes.

Possible Reason Miami Airport Hasn’t Adopted Airport Sleep Tech such as Minute Suites:

Although Miami Airport has not yet embraced the trendy Sleep Suites by Minute Suites, it does offer an in-airport hotel called Miami Airport Hotel. This hotel provides sleep suites tailored to shield guests from airport noises, reminiscent of the key selling point offered by Minute Suites.

Amenities at Miami International Airport Hotel:

  • Located inside the airport
  • Soundproof rooms and suites
  • Proximity to ticket counters and terminals
  • Air Margaritaville Restaurant
  • Bus, metro, taxi’s, and rental cars
  • Meeting and event venues
  • Complimentary wireless internet
  • Onsite restaurants
  • Pet-friendly

Unlike Minute Suites that allow you to pay per period, say 1 hour or 8-hour block, Miami Airport is similar to traditional hotels that charge a single rate for a night stay which can be as high as $300 per night. See Tripadvisor reviews of this hotel here.

The hotel is situated at Le Jeune Road, Concourse E, 2nd Floor, NW 20th, Miami, FL 33122.  For passengers arriving by air, proceed outside the secure area and make your way towards the baggage claim. From there, simply continue to Concourse E and ascend to the 2nd floor to reach MIA Hotel.

According to FAQs on its website, you can enjoy day-use rooms at Miami International Airport Hotel (subject to availability) from 10 AM to 6 PM. To ensure availability on your desired dates, kindly call us in advance at 305-871-4100.

Advantages of Miami Hotel over Pods and Suites:

  • More affordable pricing for longer stays
  • Access to traditional hotel amenities such as room service, gym, and spa facilities
  • Ability to book in advance and secure a guaranteed room/suite
  • Option to choose from various room types based on personal preferences or needs (e.g. multiple beds, handicap accessible, etc.)
  • Larger space compared to sleep pods or suites, allowing for more comfort and relaxation
  • Option to earn loyalty points with hotel rewards programs
  • Possible discounts or promotions offered by the hotel chain for future stays

On the other hand, sleep pods at Miami Airport are perfect for short naps or layovers. They provide a private and quiet space to relax and rejuvenate before continuing your journey.

Why Pick Sleep pods over hotels:

  1. Can pay per hour: If you only need a few hours of sleep, it is cheaper to book a pod by the hour than to stay in an airport hotel.
  2. More private: Pods offer more privacy than airport hotels as they are usually located in busy areas like airport terminals.
  3. More comfortable: Pods often have amenities like blankets, pillows, and charging ports to make your sleep more comfortable.
  4. Convenience: No need to leave the airport.
