What is a sleeping pod?

A sleeping pod is a small, private space where a person can take a break from the hustle and bustle of an airport. You can use it to take naps if you have a long layover or just want to get some rest before your next flight.

The pods are usually equipped with a bed, a pillow, a blanket, and some have white noise machines to help you sleep.

Some sleeping pods even have TV screens and reading lights.

Regular sleeping pods such as those designed by GoSleep or Minute Suites are more like capsule hotels found in Japan. They are long and tubular, with just enough room for a person to lie down.

Each pod is about 2.70 meters high, 1.65 meters wide, and 2.53 meters long and weighs about 1400 kgs. Below is a snapshot of the technical specifications and the image of the Napcabs sleep pods at Munich Airport.

The pods are made of aluminum and glass, with a door that can be locked from the inside.

There is a small window in each pod so you can see outside, and the pods are also equipped with air conditioning and ventilation.
